Towards Relational Design - Andrew Blauvelt 2008
The manifesto - Towards Relational Design - presents the evolution of modern design in three phases: the first as a witness to the vanguards that led to the existence of a formal language of design. The second one (from the 1960s to the 1990s) focuses on the essential content of design, the creation of meaning and, above all, the authors' affirmation of authorship (thus controlling content and form). The third phase began in the 1990s and explored the performative dimension of design.
After researching about the manifesto, I was asked to create 3 typographic compositions with the title of the manifesto, and after that, based on these compositions, I had to create a foldable poster, first introducing the manifesto and then, on the back side, with a typographic poster, enhancing the relational strategy between the letters and it's form.
